- A towel radiator valve above a stained ceiling
A towel radiator valve leaking above a stained ceiling
A cracked, stained ceiling and lost heating pressure led the engineer to a leaking towel radiator valve in the bathroom above.
What was happening
The ground-floor ceiling showed cracking and water stains. Heating pressure had fallen to zero, and there was a small puddle beneath the towel radiator upstairs.
What the engineer did
The engineer repressurised the system to check the valve, then used an endoscope and thermal imaging to inspect the affected area and nearby pipework.
What was found
Water was escaping from the towel radiator valve.
What happened next
The valve was tightened without replacing parts. Further checks found no other leak and the heating pressure held after the repair.
What this means for your home
Checking exposed fittings can resolve the cause before a larger opening is considered. Staining still needs to be assessed and dried after the leak stops.

A heating leak beneath the bathroom floor
The heating lost around one bar every twelve hours. Tracer gas led to a failed fitting beneath the bathroom floor.
A flooded basement traced to a supply fitting
Water was entering a basement. Pressure tests and acoustic listening traced the leak to a broken meter outlet fitting.
